Alicia & Nate’s Iowa engagement session
took place at Ledges State Park (near Boone, Iowa) was the icing on the cake during our extended midwest visit. As always, my heart is extremely happy in Iowa. Friends and family continuously welcome us back with open arms making our hearts go pitter-patter. It’s a warm fuzzy feeling which keeps me coming back for more.
Living in always sunny (except for our current El Nino season) southern California and working as a San Diego wedding photographer, I often think about the different climates and weather scenarios that take place in other locations. I question what it’s like to shoot outside San Diego’s ‘normal’ mild climate and truly wonder what it’s like to plan for weather during a photo session. Rain, snow, wind and most dreadful to me… the cold! This may be a shock to some but it is the reason I left in the first place.
In November, Nate and Alicia took a trip to Clearwater Beach, Florida where their engagement first began! The weather was perfect for the proposal to take place on the beach at sunset. Magical. Their proposal lined up swimmingly with our trip back. I was on the lookout for a great couple to take photos of during my visit and heard through the grapevine these two were getting hitched. I reached out and the rest is history.
Our session took place on a cold and WINDY (not even) winter day. I was super stoked they were still up for a photo session spite the nasty weather. The temperature was 39 and the winds reached up to 45 mph. BRRRR! Ok, ok, when the sun was shining and the wind died down, it wasn’t bad at all. Alicia and Nate were troopers and never once complained. They were a down-right awesome couple who just enjoyed spending time together. It was perfect. Iowa engagement sessions are the best!
Luis and I sincerely wish the couple the most excellent engagement! Cuddle, Snuggle, and love all winter long! Cheers to you, Alicia and Nate.
